It?s amazing how many people remain ashamed of cancer, how many don?t want others to know they?re sick. This is not a mercy. When you let people know you will doubtless get support to help you through it. And when you do go into remission you enter the ledger of all those who know you as another survivor. We are adopted fraternal twins and are breast cancer survivors. After we were diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer at 36, we were allowed to open our adoption file and finally found our birth mother. We learned that she and our grandmother both died of the same breast cancer we fought. Both of us twins have the BRCA1 gene.
